Tell us about your background. A general overview for people on the site to get to know who you are and how you ended up where you are today.
I’ve been running and climbing mountains since I was kid. My love for the outdoors has evolved into everything from trad  climbing to kayaking. For me, the outdoors is about bringing people together and challenging physical and mental boundaries, seeing how far we can push ourselves and each other. I enjoy endurance events and challenges which allow me to push myself to my absolute limits. Social celebrations and relaxing the night after any outdoor pursuits in the pub is also important to me, and the more people I can share all the above with, the better. The outdoors should be freely accessible to all, and those in a position to help others experience and explore it should endeavor to do so. For me, my mountain family is just as important as the mountains themselves.

Craziest adventure or experience so far?
One of the toughest mountain days I’ve experienced was during the notorious “Beast from the East” storm in the UK. I ventured into the Cairngorm Mountains to tackle a route in the worst conditions i’d ever experienced. One hundred mph winds, sub zero temperatures, no visibility, and waist-deep snow. The conditions killed my two GPS devices, mobile and satphone, leaving me only with the possibility to the use a map and compass. Thankfully, I escaped after 24 brutal hours. It solidified for me just how important having good mountain skills and a good kit are.

Bucket list or dream trip?
I want to go to the Himalayas to tackle some of the bigger mountains.
