Behind the scenes: the Haglöfs Restored process
When your outdoor gear reaches the end of its journey, it doesn’t have to be the end of the road. At Haglöfs, we believe in giving our products a second life through the Haglöfs Restored program. This initiative brings worn or damaged gear back to life, ensuring that quality outdoor products stay in use for as long as possible. Here’s how the process works, step by step.
- Arrival: where it all starts
The journey begins when products are sent to us by customers, stores, or customer service centers. These items arrive at our warehouse, ready to be assessed for their restoration potential.
- Sorting: identifying what can be saved
Every item is individually inspected by hand. This detailed examination determines whether the product can be restored. If it’s a candidate for restoration, it moves on to the next stage. Items that are beyond repair are responsibly recycled to ensure minimal waste.
- Cleaning and reproofing: restoring functionality
Before any repairs are made, all products undergo professional cleaning. This step removes dirt and odors, setting the foundation for further restoration. For waterproof items, an additional reproofing treatment is applied to renew their protective qualities.
- Repairing: skilled hands at work
Restoration is carried out by a team of professional tailors who specialize in outdoor gear. Repairs range from simple fixes, like replacing a missing button, to more extensive work needed to restore the item’s functionality and appearance. Every repair respects the original design and quality standards to ensure the product performs as intended.
- Quality control: ensuring top standards
Once cleaned and repaired, each item undergoes a stringent quality control process. This step ensures that every Haglöfs Restored product meets our high-quality standards—clean, functional, and ready for new adventures.
- Labelling and packaging: ready for a second life
The final step in the process is labeling and packaging. Each restored item is labeled to highlight its renewed journey and carefully packaged before being listed in the Haglöfs Restored shop, ready to find a new owner.
A circular approach to outdoor gear
The Haglöfs Restored process is more than just repair; it’s a small but practical step toward circularity. By restoring gear, we extend its lifespan, reduce waste, and lower the demand for new resources. Whether it’s a jacket that has braved countless hikes or a backpack that’s seen its share of trails, the Haglöfs Restored program ensures these items continue to tell their stories while reducing the energy, water, and raw materials needed to produce new gear.
