Our planet
We work to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across our business.
To help keep the world within 1.5°C of warming as to avoid the worst impacts of climate change, we need to work together to make drastic reductions in carbon emissions. That is why we have committed to reduce our emissions by 50% by 2030.
This can only be done by looking at every area of our business including:
- Increasing our use of recycled and renewable materials
- Powering our operations by renewable energy
- Improving energy efficiency of production
- Designing products with durability in mind
- Engaging consumers on product care and use, and supporting stronger climate regulations

Materials
Our assessments indicate that material production accounts for a significant part of the environmental impacts associated with our products. We prioritize preferred materials based on specific attributes that can help reduce certain environmental impacts compared with conventional alternatives. This includes recycled and certified natural fibers, as well as selected materials and processes associated with reduced resource use. At Haglöfs, 100% of the down sourced from farms into our supply chain is Responsible Down Standard certified by CU 846100.

Factories
Material choices are only one part of the environmental impacts associated with production. Chemical, water and energy management are therefore areas we address with the factories we work with. We use industry standards and tools to collect information about chemical, energy and water management in factories making our materials and to identify areas for improvement.
Chemicals
We require that our products, and the raw materials used to construct our products, are manufactured with regard for the safety of consumers and factory workers, as well as the wider environment. The management of chemicals in the supply chain directly impacts these areas. Haglöfs Restricted Substances List (RSL) provides details of chemicals and other materials that are restricted by us, and allowable chemical limits for our products. We require that our suppliers use industry best practices to proactively manage chemicals, meeting the requirements of the RSL and relevant regulations in the markets in which we operate and following our requirements relating to chemical management. bluesign®
bluesign® is a third-party system addressing chemical management, resource use and other environmental and worker-safety aspects of textile production. Haglöfs has been a bluesign® system partner since 2008 and the majority of our materials are bluepass® materials.
Transparency
To manage and make improvements in supply chain the first step must be understanding what factories are used. We have visibility of our cut-and-sew factories as well as additional factories used for supporting processes such as printing and embroidery. Because we control tightly the performance and quality of our products, we mainly use nominated materials suppliers. It is also vital to maintain a stable factory base, focusing on long-term relationships, allowing trust to be built and improvements to be made over time. We update and publish our factory list on a yearly basis, which you can find here.
