Digital Accessibility at Haglöfs

At Haglöfs, we want more people to discover and experience what we are passionate about – nature. We have always strived to make the world around us more accessible, including our digital channels. Our goal is to create a web experience that works for everyone, regardless of their abilities.

We continuously work to improve and develop our website in line with the international accessibility guidelines, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA.

How accessible is the website today?

We are aware that our website does not yet meet all accessibility requirements. However, we have made several adaptations to improve usability, and we are continuously working to enhance accessibility. Currently, we have implemented the following measures, among others:

  • Captioning for pre-recorded video with audio.
  • Structures (headings, lists, tables, etc.) are correctly coded, not just visually formatted.
  • Content is presented in the correct reading order.
  • Instructions are not based solely on shape, color, or position.
  • Users can pause/stop audio that plays automatically.
  • All functionality can be accessed via keyboard.
  • Users cannot get stuck in an element using the keyboard.
  • Time limits can be extended or turned off.
  • No content flashes more than 3 times per second (to prevent seizures).
  • Keyboard focus follows a logical order.
  • Links clearly indicate their purpose in context.
  • Complex gestures (e.g., swiping) have simpler alternatives.
  • Mouse/touch actions can be aborted.
  • The main language of the page is identified in the code.
  • Form fields have clear labels or instructions.
  • UI components have name, role, and value that assistive technologies can read.
  • Content works in both portrait and landscape orientation.
  • Field purposes are machine-readable (e.g., name, email).
  • Text can be enlarged by 200% without issues.
  • Content can be zoomed without requiring horizontal scrolling.
  • Text works even when users change line or word spacing.
  • Additional content on hover/focus is usable and closable.
  • The focus indicator is visible.
  • Language changes in parts of text are marked in the code.
  • Navigation is consistent across pages.
  • Elements are identified consistently (icon, label, etc.).
  • The website offers suggestions for correcting errors.
  • Critical inputs (legal, financial) can be reviewed or undone.

Known areas we are working on

We are aware that there are areas that can be improved, and we are continuously working to adapt among others:

  • All images/icons must have alt text or equivalent.
  • Provide text/audio alternatives for audio-only or video-only content.
  • Audio description or text alternative for pre-recorded video.
  • Animated/flashing content should be pausible or hidable.
  • Users should be able to skip repeated elements (e.g., navigation).
  • Pages should have descriptive page titles.
  • The visible label on an element must be included in its accessible name.
  • Filling in a field must not automatically change context unexpectedly.
  • Form errors must be marked and described.
  • Audio description for pre-recorded video.
  • Text contrast of at least 4.5:1 (large text 3:1).
  • Use real text instead of images of text (except in special cases).
  • Non-text elements (icons, buttons, etc.) must have sufficient contrast.
  • Headings/labels must be clear and describe their purpose.

Our work going forward

Accessibility is not a one-time effort but an ongoing process. We integrate accessibility into development from the beginning and continuously test our solutions. We educate our teams and set higher standards for ourselves to ensure that our digital presence always moves in the right direction.
