You can easily attach skis, a snowboard and poles to the outside of the bag using straps, and you can also secure both a ski helmet and an ice axe to the exterior. Ropes can also be attached to the backpack using straps, and there are dedicated compartments for avalanche safety equipment, which is essential when heading into more extreme mountain terrain.
