Blair Habenicht

Tell us about your background. A general overview for people on the site to get to know who you are and how you ended up where you are today.
I grew up skiing and then snowboarding at Crystal Mt., in Washington state. After university I pursed my dreams of becoming a pro snowboarder. I am lucky to say it worked out! I’ve been able to travel the world snowboarding and surfing. Truly a dream come true.

Craziest adventure or experience so far?
I’ve been to many amazing places to snowboard. Alaska is always a crazy experience, getting dropped off by yourself on massive peaks, the helicopter peeling away, and you are all alone, waiting for the filmers to be ready, trying to calm your nerves. I’ve really enjoyed multiple trips to South America for the surfing more than the snowboarding, but the snowboarding is fun, and Chileans are really good at BBQ and partying. Maybe the craziest experience through the lens of snowboarding was going to China. Not for the mountains. The mountains were horrible. But the culture was so different than the west. It was truly a different world.

Bucket list or dream trip?
To sail around the South Pacific with my family and surf my brains out.

Why did you want to become a Haglöfs ambassador?
It’s without doubt the best gear I’ve ever worn. I’m a total gear nerd with my surfboards and snowboards and bikes, and outerwear. I want the highest-level performance gear I can find so I can push myself to my limits. We get one life here on earth and I want to make it as rad as I possibly can, and Haglöfs gear takes out of the equation any worries about what I’m wearing slowing me down.

Favorite Haglöfs gear?
I love the Vassi series.
