Haglöfs voluntarily recalls Bow Windstopper Glove (article number 606657) due to too high levels of the chemical NPEO

Haglöfs urges all consumers who have purchased the 606657 Bow Windstopper Glove of the Fall/Winter 2023 collection to immediately stop using it and return it to Haglöfs for a full refund.

Responsibly managing chemicals or substances in our supply chain is a fundamental aspect of Haglöfs' commitment to manufacturing products with minimal impact. In addition to complying with regulations established by laws such as the EU REACH SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern) list and the California Proposition 65 substances list, Haglöfs also adheres to our own  Haglöfs Restricted Substances List (RSL). This comprehensive list outlines all the chemicals and substances that we restrict to minimize harm to factory workers, consumers, and the environment, surpassing the legal requirements.

Haglöfs recently received test reports that the elastic wrist band of the 606657 Bow Windstopper Glove, delivered to our retailers during Fall/Winter 2023, contains too high levels of the chemical Nonylphenol Ethoxylate (NPEO) and does not comply with neither with EU REACH SVHC nor with Haglöfs Restricted Substances list.

Haglöfs therefore urges all consumers who have purchased the 606657 Bow Windstopper Glove to return it to Haglöfs for a full refund. No proof of purchase is required.

For return instructions or further information, please contact Haglöfs Customer Service on [email protected].

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

About Nonylphenol Ethoxylate (NPEO):

Nonylphenol Ethoxylate (NPEO) is frequently used as a washing and cleaning agent in textile and leather processing but has been banned in the EU. During foreseeable and common washing of textiles with water, NPEO is released into the environment, posing a risk to aquatic organisms. During the degradation of NPEO in the environment, carcinogenic alkyl phenols are generated, which pose additional risks. The substance does not pose a direct threat to humans.

L.I.M Airak 14 (606306), L.I.M Airak 24 (606305) and L.I.M Airak 38 (606303) available for sales again

Responsibly managing chemicals, or substances, in our supply chain is a fundamental part of the work we do at Haglöfs to ensure we manufacture products with as little impact as possible. Helping us to do just that is our Haglöfs Restricted Substances List (RSL) which details all the chemicals and other substances that we restrict in order to minimize harm to factory workers, consumers, and the environment. The list includes allowable chemical limits for our products as well as for the raw materials used to make them. The list goes beyond what is required by law.

In addition to meeting regulations established by laws like the EU REACH SVHC (substances of very high concern) list, and the California Proposition 65 substances list, all Haglöfs’ suppliers are expected to manage and test for additional chemicals listed on our RSL, using industry best practices.

Recently the coating on three of our products, 606306 L.I.M Airak 14, 606305 L.I.M Airak 24, and 606303 L.I.M Airak 38, was found to have tested too high in the chemical DMFa compared to Haglöfs RSL, concretely 69,4 mg/kg vs 50 mg/kg. DMFa in textiles is by law allowed up to 3000 mg/kg, however at Haglöfs our RSL for textiles is based on the bluesign® restricted substances list, which had limited the use of DMFa to 50 mg/kg.

Consequently, we proceeded to stop selling 606306 L.I.M Airak 14, 606305 L.I.M Airak 24, and 606303 L.I.M Airak 38 and gave our consumers an opportunity to return an already purchased product.

Bluesign® has since updated their restricted substances list, and from July 2023 allows for DMFa levels of 250 mg/kg in the coating. Haglöfs consequently updated the RSL accordingly.

Being compliant with Haglöfs RSL obviously allows for 606306 L.I.M Airak 14, 606305 L.I.M Airak 24, and 606303 L.I.M Airak 38 to be available for sale again, meaning that we can no longer accept  returns.

Thank you!

Incorrect neck label applied to four t-shirts in Haglöfs SS23 collection

We recently discovered that some of the t-shirts in Haglöfs SS23 collection have an incorrect neck label applied to them. The label indicates that these t-shirts are made from hemp, whereas they are made from organic cotton. The care label on the side of the garment states the correct fiber content.

The t-shirts that have an incorrect neck label applied to them are:

606526 Outsider by Nature Tee Women

606525 Outsider by Nature Print Tee Women

606522 Outsider by Nature Tee Men

606523 Outsider by Nature Print Tee Men

If you have purchased one of these t-shirts and would like to return it for a full refund, please reach out to the point of purchase where you acquired the t-shirt. Make sure you have your proof of purchase readily available to expedite the process.

Please note that this is not a product recall but an offer to any consumer dissatisfied with the wrong information on the neck label. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused.

Haglöfs offers to take back L.I.M Smart Temp Multitube (605265) and L.I.M Quickdry headband (605266)

Responsibly managing chemicals, or substances, in our supply chain is a fundamental part of the work we do at Haglöfs to manufacture products with as little impact as possible. Helping us to do just that is our Haglöfs Restricted Substances List (RSL) which details all the chemicals and other substances that we restrict in order to minimize harm to consumers, factory workers and the environment. The list includes allowable chemical limits for our products as well as the raw materials used to make them. The list goes beyond what is required by law.

In addition to meeting regulations established by laws like the EU REACH SVHC (substances of very high concern) list, and the California Proposition 65 substances list, all Haglöfs suppliers are expected to manage and test for additional chemicals listed on our RSL, using industry best practices.

Recently two of Haglöfs’ products, 605265 L.I.M Smart Temp Multitube and 605266 L.I.M Quickdry headband, tested too high on antimony compared to Haglöfs RSL in our chemicals test, concretely 35.5 mg/kg vs 5mg/kg. Antimony is not regulated by the law yet, however at Haglöfs we believe the substance should be, which is why we include it in our RSL.

This is why we have decided to stop selling 605265 L.I.M Smart Temp Multitube and 605266 L.I.M Quickdry headband.  If you have already purchased either of the products mention, you are welcome to return the product to us and receive full refund. Please contact [email protected] to arrange the return.

It is important to mention that this is not a product recall, as antimony is by law an allowed substance. We take these actions in order to follow our policy on restricted substances, which, again, is stricter than the law.
