Internal skills include to develop sustainable products 'on paper'. These get translated into real products with the help of our supply chain partners since Haglöfs does not have any own factories. Here we also need skills to pick the good raw materials, correct and non-hazardous chemicals, the best producer for the job as well as a reliable and responsible logistics partner.
Raw material and material manufacturers
At the concept and design stage, we also develop products specifically with the intention to contain high-performance, yet sustainable materials.
We ensure that our raw material comes from sustainable sources where possible. This could be through use of certified organic or recycled materials, traceable down insulation, or more sustainable leather coming only from Leather Working Group (LWG) certified tanneries.
bluesign® is another important initiative, the benchmark textile industry standard; ensuring cleaner and more sustainable manufacturing processes and products; achieving more sustainable products, including trims and details.
Sustainable Choice is our own labelling of more sustainable choices in our range in the different business areas - you can read more about it here.
Our production mills are visited regularly
Members of our internal development visits our producing mills every year; to ensure a high quality standard, to check real life working environments where our products are made as well as to keep good partnerships with our product suppliers. This is also part of the sustainable production.
Besides our own visits, the Fair Wear Foundation, of which Haglöfs is a member, is of vital importance at the production site- this is a third party making sure that conditions in our factories are better than just acceptable for the people who work there. We audit factories regularly and the figures from this process are in this year's sustainability report for you to browse.
About modern slavery
Haglöfs does not tolerate modern slavery in any form and work committedly to identify and eradicate slavery in every part of our supply chain, even in the areas where we have no direct relationship. This work is carried out both independently, and together with other stakeholders, both within and outside of the outdoor industry.
Our owners, Asics Corporation, is widely committed to safely and sustainably create products, and part of this is the work to eradicate and prevent slavery. Haglöfs is committed to the ASICS Group Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking Statement, which can be read in full here.

Choosing partners for to reduce product environmental footprint
Transportation methods are chosen for overall lowest impact - given the scale of what we transport, and where we need to get items from and to, this takes constant consideration. All methods of transportation are considered and assessed regularly. We work only with logistics partners with a strong sustainability profile.
We ourselves "walk the walk" by ensuring that our own working environments are sustainable in terms of energy, our own transport, and what we consume in our offices and workplaces.
A sustainable outdoor industry.
